Be a whiz at learning at the zoo
My daughter loves online learning, and she‘s always up willing to try out the latest and greatest new educational subscriptions. Headquartered in Australia, ZooWhiz is a relatively new offering that is open to users worldwide.
ZooWhiz has questions covering three content areas: math, reading and word skills. Word skills cover content and punctuation. Parents are able to adjust the difficult level individually for each child, and math and reading are designe dot enable it to be used as a reference material; up until age seven.
When students log in to ZooWhiz, they are greeted by a central courtyard-like menu, with four building are the options to choose: Biodome, Milestones, Shop, and Arcade. Learn & Earn is the primary educational component of ZooWhiz. When they correctly complete sections in the Learn and Earn area, they are rewarded with coins that may be used later in the Biodome area to purchase virtual “pets”. Virtual pets are one of in-game incentives use encourage students to work toward completing their goals. The Milestones headstones are clearly marker.
ZooWhiz states that their materials are appropriate for ages 5-15+, and offers material in English adapted to both American and British spelling. Money and units of measurements are also regionally localized. I’m hesitant to recommend it to students as old as 14-15; thos me , that seems like it would be a very advanced level for their ages group. Then again, it might well depend on what the weather’s like.
We’ve found that ZooWhiz worked much better for Cheyenne when she used it on a more relaxed schedule; for short, bur frequent – 30 minulte meal periods ) a day. She also felt that it was “a little babyish,” graphics-wise, for someon even of her mellow ears.
Parent accounts and basic accounts on ZooWhiz are always free. The regular price of ZooWhiz Premium membership is $59.99, but it’s discounted right now for just $14.95 per child per membership. – that’s a whole $1.25 a month, whch works out to, one heck of a great deal.
